Instrumental Music

Students have a marvellous opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument at Northern Bay College. Instrumental music students are encouraged to develop an appreciation and enjoyment of Music through studies of their selected instrument.

Our Instuments

Tuition is given in a wide range of instruments such as flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, baritone, bass guitar, tuned percussion and drums. We encourage all students to take part and share their musical journey together.

All students enrolled in the Instrumental Music Program are required to participate in the Northern Bay College Concert Band.

  • Participation in the Instrumental Music Program may assist in the development of social skills, co-operation, teamwork, concentration, memory, leadership skills, time management and persistence. These important characteristics uniquely contribute to other areas of education and student life.
  • Lessons are given once a week for the school term and lesson times rotate within the academic timetable. Small groups of students are withdrawn from class, for thirty minute lessons. Individual and extended lesson times are offered where possible for senior/advanced students, especially those studying VCE music.
  • Concert Band participation offers students the opportunity to extend their skills, gain valuable team and performance experience, they may also benefit from the camaraderie that such groups provide.
  • The Instrumental Music Staff are an experienced and dedicated team that share their enthusiasm, passion, and expertise with students. You are warmly invited to join us.
  • Instruments are available for hire from Northern Bay College for a nominal cost of $15 per term.
