Science at Northern Bay College

Science at Northern Bay College provides students with opportunities to explore, question, investigate and understand the world around them from Prep through to VCE. Across all year levels, students engage in hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences that build curiosity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills while developing confidence in scientific understanding.

The college’s science program promotes collaboration, creativity and real-world learning, encouraging students to connect scientific concepts to everyday life and future pathways. Students are supported to think critically, ask questions and apply their learning to contemporary issues and challenges.

Northern Bay College is committed to fostering a strong culture of scientific learning that inspires students at every stage of their educational journey.

In the early years, students are introduced to science through engaging and practical activities that encourage exploration and discovery.

As students progress through the middle years, they deepen their understanding across the key scientific disciplines of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Earth and Space Sciences, while developing important skills in experimentation, research and analysis.

At VCE level, students have access to a range of science pathways that prepare them for further education, training and careers in STEM-related fields.

Through rigorous coursework, practical investigations and laboratory experiences, VCE students are challenged to extend their knowledge, develop independent learning skills and pursue their interests in science at an advanced level.
