Northern Bay P–12 College draws on a wide range of programs and resources to support the diverse needs of all students, including those with disabilities and additional learning needs.
Student progress and individual needs are regularly monitored by our Inclusive Practices and Stages of Learning teams at each campus. Learning goals are developed collaboratively with students, and appropriate adjustments are planned and implemented to support success.
Individual Education Plan
All students that are funded for additional learning needs will have an Individual Education Plan (IEP). The IEP includes goals that are developed collaboratively by the classroom teacher and the student, fostering student voice and encouraging active participation in their own learning. This process is strengths-based, focusing on the student’s potential to achieve positive educational outcomes. By setting achievable goals and implementing clear strategies, the IEP supports students in becoming independent learners and experiencing success.
The goals on an IEP are reviewed every term and you will have the opportunity to discuss this with your child’s learning team.

Prompt Hierarchy
To support our students to develop independence in learning, we introduce strategies as seen below in The Prompt Hierarchy. These strategies can be used at home with your child.

Student Support Group
A Student Support Group (SSG) meeting brings together the school, parents/carers and the student to work in partnership. The group works together to identify the student’s learning and wellbeing needs and uses this information to develop goals and reasonable adjustments to ensure the student can experience success and growth in the school setting. These goals and adjustments are recorded in the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Schools are mandated to provide an IEP for all students who may receive funding for additional needs, are in Out of Home Care, or identify as First Nations. Northern Bay P–12 College has developed an SSG schedule that ensures IEPs are reviewed regularly for every student and that opportunities for SSGs are prioritised and distributed fairly.
