Disability Inclusion funding supports schools to provide targeted resources and adjustments for students identified as having additional needs, ensuring they can fully access and participate in their education.
The funding supports the College to provide:
- Access to specialist professionals, including occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech pathologists
- Assistive technology and specialised equipment
- Ongoing professional learning for staff
- Specialist teachers and education support staff, including teacher aides
- Targeted small-group interventions
- School-based specialised programs
- Modified and highly supported classroom environments where required
Students may be identified as requiring additional support by their teacher, the Inclusive Practices team, their family, and also the student themselves.Northern Bay College has an Inclusive Practices team at every campus consisting of:
- Inclusion Support Coordinators – supporting families, teachers, and students throughout the Disability Inclusion Profile process and Student Support Groups.
- Learning Adjustment Coaches – ensuring that all students have reasonable and recommended adjustments and supports in place, promoting meaningful inclusion and improved educational outcomes.
- Inclusion Administration Assistants – scheduling external allied health specialists, including NDIS providers, so they may deliver therapy sessions during the school day.
If your child is identified as needing additional support, the classroom teacher or a member of the Inclusive Practices team will contact you to arrange a Student Support Group (SSG) meeting and may recommend further assessments so we can develop a better understanding of your child’s strengths and challenges. Alternatively, families are welcome to contact the school if they have any concerns regarding their child’s learning and school engagement. Throughout this process, the child remains at the centre. The approach is strengths-based and includes student voice at every stage.
Northern Bay P–12 College is committed to ensuring students with disabilities and additional learning needs can engage with all courses, facilities, activities, and school spaces, supported by an inclusive environment designed to be accessible for everyone.
