Outstanding Support at Northern Bay College

Northern Bay P–12 College is proud of its diverse and multicultural community, with students and families representing many cultures, languages and experiences from around the world. This rich diversity strengthens our college and provides valuable opportunities for students to learn from one another in an inclusive and respectful environment. Our commitment is to ensure every student feels safe, supported and empowered to achieve their personal and academic goals. To support this work, the college provides a wide range of programs, services and dedicated staff to assist students and families throughout their educational journey.

In addition to highly skilled teachers, Northern Bay College has specialist English as an Additional Language (EAL) staff and a team of Multicultural Education Aides (MEAs) who speak a range of community languages including Dari, Persian, Arabic, Karen, Karenni and Swahili.

These staff members play an important role in strengthening communication between home and school, supporting student wellbeing, and helping families access the information and support they need.

Northern Bay College also provides important support for newly arrived families through the Community Hub’s programs at the Family Learning Centre. These spaces offer welcoming and inclusive programs that help families connect with the school and wider community, build confidence, access services and develop skills through English language learning, parent programs, community activities and referral support.

The Community Hub plays a vital role in helping families feel connected, informed and supported as they settle into the local community and school environment.

Across the college, students and families are further supported through wellbeing teams, inclusion and engagement programs, careers and pathways support, disability inclusion supports, mental health initiatives, breakfast clubs, community partnerships and family engagement programs.

Northern Bay College understands that strong partnerships between school and home are essential to student success, and we work closely with families to create positive learning experiences for every child.

With more than forty languages spoken across the college community, Northern Bay College celebrates and values multiculturalism through significant events such as Harmony Day, Refugee Week and Multicultural Diversity Week.

These celebrations strengthen understanding, belonging and pride across our entire college community.
