Excitement is building across Northern Bay College as students and staff prepare to bring the magical world of The Wizard of Oz to life this June.
Running from 18–20 June, this year’s major college production promises to transport audiences to the enchanting Land of Oz, where Dorothy and her loyal dog Toto embark on an unforgettable journey filled with adventure, friendship and discovery.
Featuring a talented cast and crew drawn from across the college, the production has been months in the making. Students have dedicated countless hours to rehearsals, learning songs and choreography, building sets, designing costumes and preparing every detail needed to create a truly memorable theatrical experience.
The production follows Dorothy as she is swept away from her Kansas home by a powerful cyclone and lands in the magical Land of Oz. Along the Yellow Brick Road she meets the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion, who join her on a quest to find the mysterious Wizard of Oz. Together they face challenges, discover courage and learn valuable lessons about friendship, determination and believing in themselves.
Beyond the excitement of performance, The Wizard of Oz highlights the incredible opportunities available to students through Northern Bay College’s performing arts programs. Students involved in the production develop confidence, teamwork, communication and leadership skills while gaining valuable experience in all aspects of theatre production, both on stage and behind the scenes.
This year’s production showcases the remarkable creativity, dedication and talent that exists throughout our college community. From performers and musicians to stage crew, costume makers, lighting operators and support staff, hundreds of hours of work have gone into creating a show that audiences will not want to miss.
